David P. Virtue grew up in Greenwich, CT and received a degree in Industrial Design from the University of Bridgeport in 1967. He then worked for two years as a designer for consulting firms in New York City and for two years as a freelance designer in Annapolis, MD for the Smithsonian Institute. David started his jewelry business in 1971, originally working in silver and now exclusively in gold and platinum. David designs and creates all his jewelry here on the southern coast of Maine. The inspiration for his designs comes from living in the mountains and by the sea in New England, as well as from traveling to Europe, Central America and Asia. He has a 38’ wood sailboat and a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license, and have sailed the Maine coast for many years. He has also sailed down to the Bahamas and in the Caribbean, Greece, & Spain. David and his wife live on a tidal creek on the southern coast of Maine.
